Billboard Music Awards Winners Nicki Minaj, Rihanna in R&B/Rap

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna dominated the rap and R&B categories respectively at the Billboard Music Awards 2013, which were held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas May 19.

Nicki Minaj took home three of the four rap awards, earning the Top Rap Artist; Top Rap Album, for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded; and Top Streaming Artist awards. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz won the Top Rap Song for “Thrift Shop.” Kid Rock presented the “Thrift Shop” artists with their award. As he lifted the trophy, Macklemore shouted-out some actual thrift shops. “First of all, we gotta thank Goodwill,” he said. “We gotta thank Value City.”

Rihanna swept the R&B category, taking home all four awards: Top R&B Artist; Top R&B Album, forUnapologetic; Top R&B Song, for “Diamonds”; and Top Radio Songs Artist.
