Magic Johnson thinks the future of the Miami Heat looks promising, but not next season. Shortly after saying he would not have done what LeBron James’ did, the Lakers legend thinks his former team will win the NBA championship for the third season in a row, according to the LA Times.
“The Lakers still have the most talent,” Johnson said. “They’re the best team in the NBA.”
Johnson thinks Miami will win some titles in the future, but not next year. He feels James’ decision motivated the Lakers to make the right moves in order to still be the team to beat.
“When you think about the moves, it sets the Lakers up to three-peat– no question about it,” he said.
James decided to leave Cleveland and join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami during a one-hour special aired on ESPN. In addition to Johnson, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley both said they wouldn’t have done what James did.
