Quincy Jones, Sonny Rollins awarded 2010 National Medal of Arts Medal

President Barack Obama awarded the 2010 National Medal of Arts and National Humanities Medal to 20 recipients, such as musicians James Taylor, Quincy Jones and Van Cliburn.  Actress Meryl Streep and authors Philip Roth, Joyce Carol Oates, and Harper Lee will also be among those awarded for their contributions to the arts.

Quincy Jones is known as the man behind  Michael Jackson’s epic Thriller album but he’s also a talented conductor, arranger, record producer, instrumentalist, TV/film producer. He’s has worked with as Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles. He also has 79 Grammy nominations with 27 wins, an Emmy Award and seven Oscar nominations.
