After the success of his 2007 acclaimed album – A Mighty Love (on Shanachie Records), Phil Perry was voted Male Vocalist of the Year, in the Third Annual Readers Choice internet vote conducted by Soultracks.com.

However, Phil Perry not only distinguishes himself as a highly sought after studio and concert vocalist, through his unique jazz and R&B vocal style and passionate interpretations of love songs, but also in his exceptionally strong songwriting gifts.

His original compositions have been recorded by artists such as NAJEE (Romance the Night Away), BOBBY CALDWELL (Perfect Island Night), ARETHA FRANKLIN (United Together, Take Me With You & Together Again), the late NOEL POINTER (Classy Lady, East St. Louis Melody, & All My Reasons), ERNIE WATTS (the Grammy award winning Music Prayer for Peace from the Musican & Sanctuary albums), LEE RITENOUR (Malibu), PATTI AUSTIN (Secret Place), and the classic soul group THE MONTCLAIRS in which Perry was principle writer and lead singer (Dreamin’s Out of Season, Beggin’s Hard to do, & Baby You Know I’m Gonna Miss You).

Perry’s August 19th release, READY FOR LOVE (on Shanachie,) features a virtual buffet of original Perry compositions, and is being hailed as “a perfect vocal performance” and “a soulful jazz masterpiece for 2008” by Barry Towler of Soulchoonz.com. George Strand of Urban Music Scene.com describes Perry’s performances on this, his 8th solo project, as “unfolding his octave vocal essence masterfully into a great detail of art”.
Described as ‘the Pavarotti of Jazz “by Downbeat Magazine, Phil Perry, after a stellar 40-year music career, is still hitting 4-5 octaves in his breathtaking falsetto, and remains unquestionably one of the greatest show stopping singers on the planet.
