February 8, 2009 will mark the release of Sade‘s long-awaited CD, Soldier of Love. Fans can pre-order the CD for $12.99 at www.sadeusa.comSoldier of Love will come 10 years after her critically-acclaimed release, Lovers Rock which spawned the singles, “Lovers Rock,” “By Your Side” and “Somebody Already Broke My Heart;” and 8 years after the release of Lovers Live, a concert CD.
Sade regrouped with Stuart Matthewman (a.k.a. Cottonbelly) in June 2009 and was recording and mixing into October.
Details about Sade’s new music have not been revealed but Maxwell indicated that he’d heard some of his labelmate’s new recordings when he said the following on his Facebook Page. “Trust me; it’s so monolithic it’ll shake you in your shoes!”
Sade rose to fame during the mid 80’s with her debut album Diamond Life which included the critically acclaimed hits “Your Love is King” and” Smooth Operator“.
Sade’s 2000 release, “Lovers Rock,” sold 3,881,000 copies in the U.S. and the prior album, 1992’s “Love Deluxe,” sold 3,407,000. Since 1985’s “Diamond Life” debut, Sade has sold nearly 17 million units in the U.S. alone according to Nielsen SoundScan.
